When creating documents for print production, understanding precise page setup and export requirements is crucial. This guide covers essential technical specifications for professional document preparation in design software like Photoshop and InDesign.
Page Dimensions and Bleed
- Total Page Dimensions: 8.75" x 11.25"
- Trim Size: 8.5" x 11" - Size the page will be cut
- Bleed: 0.125" on all four sides
- Create with DPI or PPI of 300+ for optimal print quality
Design Considerations
Important design guidelines include:
- Do not design full page spreads instead, Break pages into individual layouts
- Maintain a "safety area" of 0.25" from the Trim size
- Do not Include crop marks during export
Exporting Your Design
Technical requirements for high-quality print production:
- Minimum Image Resolution: 300 DPI. Set your file size as 300 DPI or higher at the correct size prior to starting your design. (find sizing information in Page Dimensions and Bleed section above)
- Export using high-quality print presets
- Verify document settings before final export

When using design platforms like Canva, Photoshop, or InDesign ensure:
- Set precise project dimensions (8.75" x 11.25")
